Tales of Body (Unity Game)

It all started with a single body…

What Tales of Body?

Tales of Body is a first-person interactive animation that takes players deep into a magical book where they encounter mythical giants trapped in different emotions. The game is a metaphor to the experiences of multiracial identity development and some of the obstacles that stand in the way of understanding placement. The pipeline consists of moving between Quill in the VR space to Unity in a 2D space.

Development:

When I look back at this game, it is a metaphor for the experience of a multiracial identity. There are some obstacles that stand in the way and while a lot of it comes from the words of others, often times, it becomes a lot of confusing emotions to process.

This process involved working in the 3D virtual environment and switching the the flat space of a desktop. I think being able to embody and create and move to create physical assets generated a freedom and expression that I would not have achieved in Maya. As I worked through each phase of modeling, animating, and interacting, I learned and developed at each stage and the direction had to be flexible to accommodate so many changes. Honestly, after this experience, I would do it all over again, and I really love working with Quill.
